Why I Find My Best Friends Inspiring by Gauri Jere

Why I Find My Best Friends Inspiring:

Best friends are hard to find. Or so they say. Well I find it easy to make friends generally. But true friends are hard to come across. If you know me, you would know how crazy and unexpected I am. Personally, I’m shocked anyone would want to be my friend. However, my friend’s relationship with me is special. Why? Because we trust, understand, and find each other special. Do you want to read more? So do it!

Why can I trust them? For they will never give up on me or ever give me away. They understand that my feelings are not to be played with. An example of this is when me and my friends tease each other. We never cross the line.

Anyway I also find my friends inspiring because they are open and honest with me. Like when during the Outbound, I wanted to share a seat with Aishwarya, and not Mehr. Mehr was perfectly fine with it.

Since both me and my besties accept each other for who we are, and have fewer problems and a two way relationship. Another example of this is the time when my friends were angry at me, but then they heard me out and admitted to their mistake.

Of course there is more to our friendship. MUCH MORE! Maybe you're getting tired of reading.  But just hold on for some time. So how many reasons over? Lemme check. 2.   We have one more to go!

Obviously, in a friendship you need to have your friend to like you and appreciate you. All friends need to have that in them.  Well mine do.  But mine also hold me precious and unique in their hearts.  Well now is the time to read on to find out.

Our friends’ gang is my example for this.  We’re all a mix of different personalities. For example we have Mehr.

She’s a sweet, gentle girl and is yet fierce like me. Along with that we have Nandika, strong hearted and stubborn girl.  Okay.  Wait.  Not stubborn. Very, very, very, very stubborn.

We can also take this opportunity to introduce Amisha.  She’s a straightforward girl and has the amazing ability to say no. I mean, I can say it, but like I can’t say no to someone who wants to lend something of mine, or take something of mine, how much ever mean they are.

The point of all this is that I need to imbibe some of their qualities to become a better person. Surely if I try, I can do it!

So that is how my friends are special.  But what about me? Well I’m gonna say this all in a very fast torrent of words. (By the way, this is what my friends say about me.)

Encouraging, funny, short tempered, smart, understanding, creative, sweet, kind, sharing, stubborn, thick-skinned, special, gentle, forever hungry, true, loyal, CLOSE TO MY HEART. .  Also passionate, helpful, bold and smart.  (Did I already mention that? ;P)

So basically, you’ve got all the basics about me. *BASICS? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?* no I’m not.  I’m a very complicated person. I’ll tell you more about me later.

While I’m saying this I realize that my friends’ relationship with me is like a rubber band.  It’s really weak and strong. You just shouldn’t stretch it too much or it’ll break.

Anyways, you got the one on one attention from me that you wanted.  Now, I’ve obviously got to go.  Bye! I’ll MISS YOU!

Pressure Victimizes by Varun Bali

Pressure  Victimizes.......

I have to agree with this. When it comes to coping with pressure I am a victim. When pressure is onto me I always think I am going to lose. And half the time that happens because of the incorrect mindset!!

Firstly, when I am under pressure I usually tend to get distracted a lot and I don’t perform very well. My weakness is focus and I need to improve on it.  I try to focus to the best of my ability and it sometimes pay off tremendously. At other times it gets me into big, big trouble and that trouble proves fatal later. Like the time I went to Akash International school for a football tournament. I was looking at another school practising when suddenly my teammate Bharatha passed the ball back to me. Right behind him was a huge guy, taller than me. As I was about to kick the ball he dribbled me and scored. The very next moment I was sitting on the bench and getting yelled at by Jerry sir.

Secondly, pressure can cause me to blank out! When I am in an exam or a match I sometimes get stuck at some point. And if I get stuck with a question God help me!!! Then I tend to misinterpret the question and write some random answer. Or waste a lot of time and realise that I will have to start all over again. I was writing my English literature Monthly test and there was a question - write a letter to the poet  Roger McGough. I did not read the question fully and I wrote a diary entry by mistake. By the time I had noticed it was too late. I had only 5 minutes left and I was not able to complete the answer!!!

Last but not the least, I set high standards for myself which create pressure. When you are playing a match you try to set a game plan for yourself.  The objectives can be different for different people and for the things they do. For example a goalkeeper would want to keep a clean sheet and he would not want to make any silly mistakes. Here I was, playing in the Bangalore Club U14 tennis tournament final against Dev Hingorani.  I had played against him before and he was really easy so I was sure I could easily win the match. I was shocked when we played the first set. Even though I won the first set he put up a good fight. My objective for the second set was to beat him 6-1. But he was leading 5-0!! I thought that I was going to lose the set. So I decided to not go down without a fight and Walla! I won!!!! I bounced back 5-5 and won it 7-5.

I also want to do things well and be appreciated for the outcome.  When I was in grade five, I was playing drums for the Theme Exhibition. I wanted to do a fantastic job. But I ended up making a few mistakes which were noticed by my fellow musicians but not by the audience. This still made me feel embarrassed.

Now you see how hard coping with pressure can be. But what if I was able to come up with a solution that would fix this... So I now set goals for myself. Each goal has a consequence.  If I broke any of these goals the consequence was a big one. For example if I was found looking around at someone while I was in the game and the coach saw me then I would get a ban from playing games on the ipad or computer for a week. In this way, if you set goals for yourself you can achieve anything. This routine has been working very well for me, the first few times I was unable to follow and the consequences were piling up. After that I had learnt my lesson and I tried my best to focus on what I was doing and not get distracted.

In conclusion, I make goals for myself and attach consequences to the same. If I do not achieve the goal, I face the consequences. I am working on changing the feeling that I have let myself down even if others don’t think so. I have vowed to work regularly and at a comfortable pace in attaining my goals. And if I don’t, I know that I will give myself another opportunity.

Nidhi by Purnima Mariah

Nidhi

Some people think that they don’t need friends or even Best-Friends! They think that they are so much better that they don’t need anyone, but I think differently about friends. For me you need friends to make you laugh at the darkest of times and I have learnt that from my B.F.F, Nidhi.

Nidhi, a smart active, a total positive thinker, who understands different perspectives of different people at different times and with, of course, a person with a soft heart.

All those points make Nidhi an amazing friend, a life supporter. Since I already told you something about Nidhi, I mustn’t stop. So get comfy for you are about to meet a new friend.

The first thing you need to know about her is about her being able to understand perspectives of different people at different times, for example once Nidhi and I were trying to join back 2 people after they fought. I could not bring them back together, but then Nidhi was there and brought them back together in a jiffy, by telling them equally good reasons to be together!

Now isn’t that an amazing quality that almost everybody needs? You might think that this is the best reason why I like Nidhi, but sadly you’re wrong!! There are 2 more reasons where one of them IS the most important one.

Secondly, she as I said before, she is a total positive thinker, who taught me that life has multiple choices, including both positive and negative. So whenever you are feeling down or thinking only about the negative side of things, you can count on Nidhi to cheer you up!! Are you all wondering why I’m thinking this about her? Well there are many times when she was the P.T.D {positive thinking doctor}, but I have a story where it generalizes many incidences together.

On a basically perfect evening {but not for me} my friends and I were playing on a rough road. While I was running, Nidhi screamed, I thought a car was going to hit me but instead a big ditch lined with stones. As usual I fell in it with a big Thud!!! Nidhi ran towards me in full speed and soon she tried to pick me up. I was thinking about how bad the cut is is or what are my parents going to do? Then, right then Nidhi held my and said, “Look at the bright said, you don’t need to go for piano class for a long time”

You should have seen my face, I had an ear ‘2’ ear smile until I went home where I started to over exaggerate.

Voila!! My best reason! The total necessity of life. This reason taught me that if you think only about the negative side of things, it’s not going to get you anywhere in life.

Let’s not waste time and go on to the third reason of this essay because I’m sure that you might want you read other essays!

Alas, it’s time for the last reason. Whatever I’ve told you about Nidhi show her being brave, fearless and even understanding, that she will basically never cry, that she will never feel sorry, but I’m sorry, you are wrong! She still has some space in her heart for emotions, a kind heart. She taught me that you shouldn’t always be strong; you should also let some love and kindness come into your hearts to balance ourselves. I learn’t this when……

Once a few people were ganging up on me and Nidhi stood up like what Nidhi would do, and then Nidhi went behind me and started to cry. When those bullies were gone, Nidhi was ever so kind to me.

While writing this I realized that best-friends are a necessity of life because if you are feeling down, or angry, they are always there to cheer you up, to add humor to your lives and also makes you think only about the side of everything.

Food is Life in Love by Vinaya Seshan

FOOD IS LIFE IN LOVE

‘Le nouriturre’, ‘khaana’, ‘saapad’, ‘bhojanam’, ‘khaiba’ and ‘tabemono’, they can call it but for me it means the world. Food is one of the things that pace my heart, widens my eyes, comforts my tongue, cushions my tummy and maybe even enlarges my body! My love for food is justified as it boosts up my spirits, it has an unlimited variety and most importantly, it gets my taste buds excited.

I used to be a pain in the neck as I rejected anything near my mouth but thankfully Balaji Chithappa went all the way to Annapurneshwari Temple, all the way in Chennai, for my good health and here we go…

Past is past so the unlimited variety makes life easier having you adjust to any style of food while each cuisine takes you to a completely different world; sometimes to Spectacular Spain, many to Incredible Italy and others to Mesmerizing Mexico. Always choosing a multi – cuisine restaurant leaves a wide mind for your unique choices with its aromas making one drool in temptation.

Nevertheless, a heavy breakfast ain’t sufficient for me. The slightest feeling of hunger is when I see food. Hunger or ‘crave’? In other words, the sight of food excites my taste buds. In school it’s my friends who save the day by sharing their delicious delicacies with me.

To wrap it all up, food is an immensely important attribute in life. Not only is it essential in everyday life but boosts up your spirits with its numerous varieties and excites your taste buds.

A DEADLY VIRUS BY ADI AGARWAL 7B

A DEADLY VIRUS       BY ADI AGARWAL 7B

Procrastination; a deadly virus. The art of putting books away and resorting to other things. The outcome of a life so full of sports and the modern world of technology, devices and socializing.

By now I’ve realized that over the months, distraction, and only distraction has got to me. This of course, has made me resort to procrastination, unknowingly. Feels amazing, I another victim of this rapidly spreading disease. An epidemic I would say, has taken the lives of so many teenagers worldwide, I almost wish I was born earlier.

It must have been the start of 7th Grade, I happily going about my life till tragedy struck; devices and sports. My life was suddenly ambushed by a wave of sports – probably the reason my interest in studies was temporarily lost. Now that I had gotten into the habit of ignoring studies, the worst possible thing happened to me; devices. These “devices” have been convicted worldwide to increase the rate of procrastinators.

Come to think of it, procrastination is, and will always be a very controversial topic. While some say it is easy to get rid of, and leave behind, others say not. Whereas I think both make sense; it will be quite easy for this habit to die down if you put your mind to it and have a strong mindset. On the other hand, it isn’t all that easy. There are still people who are attached to their devices and just give up trying not to procrastinate. You really need a strong mindset in order to expel this habit, and I wouldn’t be surprised if someone has difficulty dealing with it.

Take my case for an example, when I started procrastinating, and  I realized it when my marks showed a significant downfall, I tried to stop immediately. And that is very important; to realize your mistakes and take action as soon as possible. Consequently, I had achieved my goal halfway. Even though it will always be hard at the beginning, you have to try and get the hang of it. Practice is all that matters. If you can’t think of a solution, resort to someone you know can help you, or the internet (Of course I didn’t know that I could, otherwise my habit would’ve gone down twice as fast) and take their opinions and suggestions/methods of everyone openly.

In conclusion, I would like to say that yes, you shouldn’t just expel devices out of your life, neither should you with sports. The old times are over, this is the 21st Century for Christ’s sake! The whole world basically runs on devices. But again, too much is never good, and you have to set boundaries and pay adequate attention to situations. Take this as a warning. Stay aware. Have a good day. Thank you.
